The opportunity
Exec Capital is partnering with an established food import/export business — the UK arm of an international agro-allied group — that sources and trades food products globally to GFSI standards. The business has strong products and competitive pricing but has struggled to break through the relationship-driven barriers to entry that define this market.
They are looking for a part-time advisory consultant who already has the contacts. This is a role for someone with an existing network among UK food buyers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers — relationships that can be leveraged from day one to open doors that cold approaches cannot.
What you’ll do
- Open commercial relationships with buyers, distributors, and wholesalers across the UK food trade
- Leverage your existing contact book to secure introductions, meetings, and supply opportunities
- Advise on go-to-market strategy and how to overcome the sector’s barriers to entry
- Position the business’s products competitively with the right buyers
- Help convert relationships into firm trading agreements
Responsibilities
What we’re looking for
- A genuinely well-connected commercial operator in UK food, agri, or FMCG distribution
- A proven track record of opening doors and winning new business in the food supply chain
- Existing, active relationships with buyers, category managers, or procurement decision-makers
- Credibility and trust within the sector — someone whose name opens conversations
- Self-directed, results-focused, and comfortable operating on a fractional basis
