Senior Community Nurse/District Nurse – Evening and Overnight DN Team

Closing date: 22 June 2026

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. The hours are part-time, up to 36 hours per week.

Internal applicants who wish to be considered for a secondment opportunity should discuss with their line manager the suitability of a possible secondment.

You will be part of the Evening and Overnight District Nursing Service, which provides care to people at home when they have an unplanned nursing or health need in the evening or overnight. The service covers 19:00 to 08:00 and includes twilight shifts from 19:00 to 01:00. You will lead a team of nurses and healthcare assistants within a multi-professional environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering community nursing care during twilight and overnight shifts
  • Making autonomous clinical decisions and delegating tasks effectively
  • Providing compassionate, patient‑centred care and supporting colleagues
  • Participating in induction, clinical supervision and leadership support programmes

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (Adult/RGN)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Experience of delivering extended role clinical interventions
  • Evidence of post‑registration education

Experience

  • Consolidated experience of community nursing practice
  • Experience of managing long‑term conditions and case management of complex patients
  • Leading teams
  • Experience of extended role
  • Mentoring students or new staff members

Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro rata)
