The Company
A fast-growing energy technology business is building a trading desk to monetise consumer-led flexibility across its UK EV charging portfolio. The company is entering an exciting phase of growth, in the process of securing the Virtual Trade Party (VTP), Virtual Lead Party (VLP) and Asset Metering VLP accreditations and actively working towards live trading across multiple UK power markets.
This is a rare opportunity to join a desk at the point of inception, working within a small, expert team to shape both the commercial strategy and operational infrastructure from day one.
The Opportunity
The Senior Trading Analyst will play a central role in building out the trading function from systems selection and market access through to settlement design and analytics capability. Post go-live (targeted for Q3 2026), this individual will work alongside senior leadership to set and deliver the monetisation strategy across all available UK power markets.
The role offers significant long-term development potential, with the expectation that the right candidate grows with the desk as the business scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to desk build activities including ETRM selection, EDL/EDT systems integration, settlement infrastructure and market analytics development
- Support market accreditation processes with regulatory bodies
- Develop and refine the monetisation strategy across wholesale, capacity, balancing mechanism, ancillary services and DSO flexibility markets
- Execute trades and manage positions across UK power markets post go-live
- Monitor and report on P&L performance, identifying opportunities and risks
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of trading systems, tools and processes
- Work cross-functionally with technical, commercial and finance teams

- NESO Reserve, Response and Demand Flexibility Service
- Balancing Mechanism
- Distributed System Operator (DSO) flexibility markets
What We’re Looking For
- Degree educated – a numerate discipline is preferred
- Demonstrable experience working within a UK power trading environment
- Working knowledge of the UK electricity markets listed above
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Python proficiency is a distinct advantage
- Commercially minded with the confidence to contribute to strategic decisions
- Self-starter comfortable operating in a fast-paced, build-out environment
