Porter Duty Manager

An opportunity has arisen to join our busy Portering Team at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
You will be responsible for the day to day management of the department and deputising for the portering and waste manager when necessary.
You will maintain high standards of customer service at all times and actively support management and all core teams in delivering a professional service to all customers. You will lead during your shift in monitoring, assessing, and ensuring we deliver a professional and customer‑centred service in line with all policies and procedures, and deputise for the Portering Manager as required.
Main duties of the job
You will demonstrate flexibility to shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays when necessary.
You will assist the Portering Manager in the efficient and effective management of Portering Services.

Person Specification
Experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience of prioritising and coordinating daily tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Experience of supporting a positive team culture by encouraging professionalism, teamwork, and a proactive mindset
- Experience of working in a hospital
- Experience of training and developing staff
Skills
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to workload
- Ability to communicate with the general public and staff at all levels
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Health & Safety
- Knowledge of Portering
