ICT Engineer – Workstation & Network Support

The ICT Department is responsible for the continued development and support of the ICT infrastructures for over 10,000 users across 100+ sites. Based at Blackpool Stadium, you will work with a wide range of hardware and software technologies.

Job Overview

As an ICT Engineer you will provide technical ICT support to Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other supported organisations. You will analyse, investigate and resolve a wide range of complex ICT issues and problems including all ICT systems, PC desktop/laptop, mobile devices, printers, cabling, installation and maintenance of associated software and peripheral devices, and you will be involved with data communications networks.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and resolve service requests and faults, both remotely and in person across the Fylde Coast.• Provide advice and training on technical issues to staff and customers.• Act as first point of contact during on‑call rota, resolve calls, and document resolutions.• Work independently as well as part of an integrated IT team.• Consider potential or actual clinical impact of service failure and ensure corrective solutions minimise disruption.• Recommend and propose service and process improvements to optimise use of equipment, hardware, software and ICT systems.

Qualifications

  • Full working knowledge of PCs/laptops and a wide variety of healthcare systems.
  • Analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex information.
  • Ability to provide high‑quality customer care to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, prioritise tasks and escalations.
  • Access to own vehicle for transporting self and equipment to multiple sites.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, networking protocols (TCP/IP), DHCP, DNS, PXEboot.
  • Experience diagnosing PC equipment and peripherals, deploying PCs and software.
  • Experience within an ICT support function and in NHS environments.
  • Education: HNC in IT related subject or equivalent by experience, CompTIA A+ certified.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (desired).
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent ITIL experience (desired).
  • Desirable: experience working within strict procedures and recommending improvements.

Salary and Working Conditions

Salary advertised is for full‑time hours. If the post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro‑rata. New entrants to the NHS will typically begin on the first pay point of the relevant agenda for change band.
