An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented Litigation / Arbitration Associate to join a top-tier international disputes practice in London, with a specialist focus on international trade, energy, marine and commodities disputes.

This role is ideal for an ambitious England & Wales qualified lawyer with excellent academics and a strong grounding in commercial litigation or arbitration, who is looking to develop a niche in a highly regarded and globally significant sector.

The Opportunity

You will join a market-leading disputes team acting on complex, high-value, and often multi-jurisdictional matters. The practice is particularly well known for its work in:

This is a unique chance to transition into marine and commodities work at a leading firm, even if you have not previously specialised in this area. The team places a strong emphasis on training, mentorship, and long-term development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting on and managing a broad range of complex disputes from inception through to resolution
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, and submissions

  • Engaging with clients across the shipping, trading, and insurance sectors
  • Working closely with partners on strategic, high-profile matters

Candidate Profile

  • 1+ years’ PQE with experience in commercial litigation and/or arbitration
  • Strong academic background (top-tier university and consistently high grades)
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in marine and commodities disputes
  • International outlook and ability to work across jurisdictions

Note: Prior marine or shipping experience is not essential. The firm is keen to attract high-calibre lawyers with strong core disputes training and a desire to specialise.

Why Apply?

  • Join a globally recognised disputes practice with an exceptional reputation
  • Exposure to complex, cross-border work from day one
  • Structured training in a specialist and in-demand area
  • Clear progression opportunities within a supportive, high-performing team
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package

This is a rare opportunity to carve out a specialist disputes career within a prestigious international firm, working at the forefront of global trade and shipping matters.
