Control and Instrumentation Technician- Ardley, Oxfordshire

Location: Ardley

Salary: £52,000 per year + discretionary annual bonus up to 10%

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Technician to join a leading energy facility. This hands-on role focuses on the repair, maintenance, and calibration of all C&I equipment on site, ensuring safe and efficient plant operation. The role involves working alongside other disciplines and coordinating contractors as required.

This position is ideal for a proactive individual with strong problem-solving skills and experience in process or power plant environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of C&I equipment.
  • Perform fault diagnostics and rectify issues efficiently.
  • Maintain calibration records and implement instrument calibrations.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors where necessary.
  • Conduct plant inspections and area safety checks.
  • Record and monitor work in Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Support and cover duties of the C&I Engineer when required.
  • Respond to plant and equipment breakdowns during and outside normal hours.
  • Maintain a safe, tidy, and compliant working environment.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in C&I engineering within process industries or power plants.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and DCS/SCADA.
  • Ability to work independently and safely, including lone working.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills.
  • Relevant technical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent, including recognised apprenticeship).
  • Knowledge of CEMS systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • ONC/HNC or COMPEX 1-4 certifications.

Working Hours- 4-week rolling rota:

  • Weeks 1–3: Mon–Fri, 7:00 – 15:30
  • Week 4: Mon–Fri, 12:00 – 20:30 (on-call)
