Head of Sub-System Product Line

Lead a key subsystem across the full lifecycle, shaping how it is supported, improved and sustained across complex defence programmes. This role gives you ownership of strategy, delivery and continuous development within a high accountability engineering environment.

What you will need

• British Citizen with eligibility to obtain SC clearance
• Strong systems engineering background in complex, safety critical or regulated environments
• Experience across full product lifecycle including in service support
• Background in hardware and software integrated systems
• Experience managing engineering work packages or technical teams
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across engineering and delivery functions

Salary and rewards

• Up to £67,000
• Bonus of up to 21% of base salary as the primary performance reward

What you will be doing

• Leading support and maintenance strategy for a critical subsystem used across multiple air defence programmes
• Owning lifecycle delivery from development through to in service sustainment and continuous improvement
• Working closely with software, systems and specialist engineering teams to define and evolve product capability
• Managing requirements, verification, validation and certification activities across the subsystem
• Developing and maintaining technical roadmaps and contributing to future programme bids and growth
• Acting as a key technical authority within a cross functional engineering environment

Skills and experience

• Systems engineering experience within complex multi discipline environments
• Knowledge of secure Windows based or similar controlled software environments
• Understanding of full product lifecycle delivery including sustainment
• Ability to manage technical work packages and coordinate engineering delivery
• Strong communication and stakeholder management across internal and external interfaces
• Experience working with integrated hardware and software systems

Where you will be based

Bristol, hybrid working with 3 to 4 days per week on site to support programme needs and collaboration requirements.
