Overview
Places for London is TfL’s property company, responsible for developing thousands of new and sustainable homes across London over the next ten years. As one of the city’s largest landlords, we provide flexible workspaces for 1,500 customers, mostly small businesses.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical accounting advice to the divisional and group teams.
- Set, monitor, and assure correct accounting treatments under finance regulations to meet legal, IFRS, and CIPFA standards. Report findings at the Balance Sheet Review Meeting.
- Prepare all necessary packs for the annual audit and manage audit delivery, including deputising for the CFO and Head of Finance at audit review meetings.
- Compile the division’s consolidated financial and performance reports for the TfL Executive Committee and divisional executive meetings, liaising with central finance, local Heads of Finance, and divisional directors to develop and challenge reporting.
- Prepare consolidated budgeting and forecast outputs, obtain feedback from Finance leadership and divisional executive meetings, and ensure the feedback is acted on by Senior Finance Business Partners.
- Lead projects and improvement initiatives within the Finance Business partnering area and those led by central finance functions.
- Manage a team of Finance Professionals to support the delivery of consolidated financial outputs and provide subject‑matter expertise across the division.

- Preparation of Statutory Accounts (Expert)
Knowledge
- Previous exposure at a senior level to systems and controls, performance management and change management
- Knowledge of how Finance departments operate effectively in large, complex organisations
- Knowledge of the principles and processes for financial operations, accounting and reporting, management, control, assurance and audit requirements (Essential)
Experience
- Qualified ACA or ACCA accountant or equivalent qualification (Essential)
- Expert at advising senior management on strategic, financial and technical accounting matters (Essential)
- Knowledge of accounting standards, financial compliance and assurance and reporting requirements, and best practice audit management and planning
- Expert in preparing statutory accounts
- Experience working at a strategic level in a large, multi‑service organisation
- Experience in a property‑based organisation or auditing complex property businesses (preferred)
