Lead Data Analyst

Salary Band: £82,500 – £90,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Overview

This role will act as the senior, business-facing anchor for the Data Analytics capability. Reporting to Chief Strategy and Data Officer and working closely with the EXCO and SLT, the Lead Data Analyst will lead the business in moving to a data‑led culture by establishing best practice in data Governance, improving consistency of reporting, and helping to define an enduring data competency. This is a hands‑on leadership role, requiring both delivery capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Delivering deep analytical insights into customer and performance drivers across each stage of the customer journey
• Translating complex data into clear, actionable commercial recommendations creating measurable improvements in performance
• Produce Board ready insights to demonstrate the value of the investment into data
• Management of a senior data analyst and dotted line support for the functional analysts
• Partner with senior stakeholders to understand business priorities and shape data‑led solutions
• Lead the design and evolution of reporting standards across the business
• Drive consistency across MI, reducing duplication and improving data accuracy
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable insight for commercial decision‑making
• Support the development of a Data Competency Centre and service catalogue
• Challenge existing approaches and help move the business beyond reactive reporting

Skills & Experience Profile

• Strong experience in a senior Data Analyst / Lead Analyst role
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive business outcomes through data
• Experience working in commercially driven, data‑led environments
• Strong Power BI capability (designing and building dashboards end-to-end)
• Experience working with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks or similar)
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to “tell the story” of data

Technical Skills Profile

• Advanced Power BI capability including data modelling and dashboard design
• Strong SQL and experience working with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks)
• Understanding of data architecture and translating data into business insight
