Electrical Project Manager – Offshore Electrical Transmission

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of an offshore electrical transmission system for a major offshore wind project, covering development through to construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of the offshore electrical transmission system, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient execution across all project phases.
  • Demonstrate strong Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) leadership, embedding risk elimination and reduction through planning, design, and implementation during design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
  • Provide key technical input into the wider electrical system, including grid connection, offshore and onshore substations, and export cables.
  • Work closely with package managers to ensure effective coordination of multiple delivery packages, achieving no harm to people or the environment, on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Maintain oversight of cost, schedule, quality, and change control across the electrical transmission scope.
  • Lead technical, commercial, cost, resource, and programme planning activities for the electrical system and associated works.
  • Support permitting, land access, and development activities related to the electrical transmission system.
  • Coordinate and align strategic procurement planning and supply chain engagement.
  • Drive a “Right First Time” culture, promoting comprehensive planning, proactive risk identification, mitigation, and recovery actions where required.
  • Work collaboratively with other major construction packages such as wind turbine generators, inter‑array cabling, and marine works.
  • Contribute to lessons learned activities, actively sharing knowledge, insight, and improvements.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to project leadership and the wider business as required.
  • Represent the electrical transmission scope at contractor steering committees and other governance forums, supporting escalation and resolution of issues.
  • For UK‑based projects, maintain awareness of asset transfer and regulatory processes, including interfacing with regulatory and transaction stakeholders where applicable.

Deliverables

  • Safe and successful delivery of the offshore electrical transmission system, including continued development, construction, commissioning, handover to operations, commercial close‑out, and delivery of all as‑built documentation for associated packages.

Qualifications and Experience

Key Qualifications

  • All necessary offshore certification required to perform offshore works.
  • Degree or chartership in project management, with membership of a recognised professional body.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, ideally supported by a higher qualification or closely related competency.
  • Knowledge of standards associated with offshore substations and offshore electrical works.

Essential Experience

  • Degree‑level education or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience delivering large, complex capital projects through development and construction phases.
  • Experience with HV and EHV transmission systems.
  • Strong understanding of grid infrastructure.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills with suppliers, contractors, and grid operators.
  • High level of competence in contract management, claims management, negotiation techniques, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and a strong team player.
  • Business‑level proficiency in English.
  • Flexible approach to work, with willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with regular in‑person attendance for key meetings and effective collaboration.
