Engineering Manager (Water) – Permanent · Full‑time (North West or London regions)

Leading multidisciplinary engineering and design delivery across major water and wastewater treatment projects for AMP8.

Role Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will act as a leader and mentor while contributing to strategic planning and driving continuous process improvements across multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and engineering delivery across full project lifecycle
  • Coordinate civil, process, electrical, ICA and H&S teams to deliver integrated, buildable solutions
  • Oversee M&E equipment selection and procurement, ensuring programme alignment and risk mitigation
  • Manage subconsultants and subcontractors to meet scope, quality and contractual requirements
  • Carry out site visits, resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with client standards
  • Build strong client relationships and provide clear technical updates throughout delivery
  • Ensure consistent HSEQ performance across all stages of the project
  • Produce project plans, reports and risk updates; manage technical change effectively
  • Support temporary works and lifting requirements from early project stages
  • Monitor supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
  • Multidisciplinary engineering delivery experience
  • Strong Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to guide and support diverse teams effectively
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards in construction, particularly in water and wastewater sectors
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of resolving technical issues and managing project changes, for best project outcomes
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage design budgets, timelines, and resources effectively
  • Adaptable and solution‑oriented mindset, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
