We are looking for experienced Security Officers to join our team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust based in Southampton.

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for internal and external patrolling, CCTV monitoring, locking and unlocking of various sites and dealing with security related incidents as they arise. An SIA Door Supervisor licence is essential.

You should be motivated, organised and capable of communicating with staff, patients and visitors. Confidence using a computer is required as you will analyse data from monitoring systems and report incidents through the Trust’s internal reporting system.

Full time position working 12‑hour shifts with an average of 37.5 hours per week (includes evenings and weekends with unsocial payment enhancements).

Main duties of the job

  • Provide onsite security service 24/7.
  • Carry out internal and external patrols of all buildings, site grounds and any other premises using the designated patrol system.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all individual alarm systems in place throughout the Trust.
  • Deal efficiently with traffic management and car‑park problems.
  • Assist with portering duties when required.
  • First point of contact in the event of a fire alarm being activated.
  • Manage security incidents effectively and provide necessary support to clinical staff and the public.
  • First point of contact for lift breakdowns, ensuring safe release of trapped staff, patients or public with lift engineers.
  • Vigilant at main access roads and main entrance areas to buildings; report suspicious circumstances and vehicle incidents.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day CCTV footage in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Coning and cordoning off designated areas or parking bays.
  • Carry out physical searches of patients, staff and visitors when required; police to be contacted if necessary.
  • Manage incidents involving individuals who manifest aggressive or violent behaviour.

Qualifications

  • SIA Door Supervisors Licence
  • Valid Driver’s Licence for driving in the UK
  • SIA CCTV Licence

Experience

  • Previous experience in the security industry.
  • Previous experience in NHS security.

£25,760 to £27,476 per year (unsociable hours enhancements apply).
