Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has ambitious plans to transform healthcare in North Manchester through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme which will deliver a new hospital and health campus at the existing North Manchester General Hospital site. This major investment will support the transformation of how we deliver our services and create modern facilities that support world‑class clinical care for our communities. The role provides a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest public sector health transformation programmes being delivered across Manchester.

The NMGH New Hospital Senior Project Manager will support the PMO Lead and workstreams in the delivery of various projects and initiatives across the New Hospital Project.

Main duties of the job

The NMGH New Hospital Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of a range of projects relating to the TOM, business change, digital, clinical or technical design and construction. The role will provide general project management support across a range of workstreams and working groups, including:

  • Providing dedicated interface management between the project and clinical/non-clinical teams in the development;
  • Planning and coordinating inputs to the delivery of the New Hospital Project;
  • Supporting and leading communication and engagement activities;
  • Leading clinical/non-clinical teams with the development and delivery of their service transformation plans for the new hospital proposals;
  • Leading business change management activities and design review processes;
  • Supporting the delivery of technical and business change projects and hospital operationalisation processes;
  • Providing a link between clinical services and the technical design.

Person Specification

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or demonstration of relevant transferable knowledge and experience;
  • Knowledge and experience of designing and facilitating service improvement projects, transformation or capital projects to identify opportunities for redesign and sustainable improvement;
  • Knowledge and experience of change management methodologies and their application;
  • Knowledge of RAID Management and project/programme delivery methodologies;
  • Strong experience of managing projects (capital or non-capital) and/or sub-projects/workstreams within larger programmes;
  • Experience of delivering operational and policy related projects within a healthcare or construction environment;
  • Experience in driving change management processes and projects, facilitating stakeholder alignment, and ensuring successful mapping, development and implementation of TOMs across functional areas;
  • Project/Programme Management qualification such as Prince2, APM PMQ, MSP or equivalent experience;
  • Knowledge and an understanding of clinical and non-clinical hospital processes, hospital operations and clinical and non-clinical workflows;
  • Knowledge and an understanding of technical design processes and technical drawings;
  • Knowledge of Change Management and Change Management Methodologies and their application;
  • Experience of working within/involved in the delivery of capital and service transformation projects in a healthcare environment.
