The role
As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑integrity engineering solutions within highly regulated, safety‑critical nuclear environments. Your expertise will directly support safe plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long‑term infrastructure resilience.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities
- Leading the design, specification, and integration of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for nuclear projects
- Delivering technically robust solutions that meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, safety, commissioning, and project management
- Engaging with regulators, clients, and supply chain partners to ensure full technical and regulatory alignment
- Producing and reviewing high‑quality technical documentation, calculations, and safety case contributions.
This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, based at any of our main Cavendish locations including Warrington, Bristol, Leicester, Humberside or Cumbria. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of working 3 days on site.
Essential experience
- Proven experience designing and delivering EC&I systems within regulated or safety‑critical environments
- Strong knowledge of nuclear or comparable industry standards, including functional safety requirements
- Experience working across complex engineering projects from concept through delivery
- Confidence interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
- Track record of producing high‑quality, auditable technical outputs
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, Instrumentation, or Systems Engineering
- Professional registration or working toward chartership is advantageous
