Service Manager – Birmingham, AL
Budget Rent a Car of Birmingham is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our vehicle maintenance and damage repair operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on automotive leader who has a strong background in fleet maintenance, repair operations, technician management, and cost control.
The Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance and damage repair functions for our car and truck fleet. This role ensures vehicles are maintained safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include managing maintenance and repair expenses, selecting and coordinating outside vendors for mechanical and body repairs, monitoring technician performance, enforcing safety standards, and overseeing budgeting and preventive maintenance programs to minimize vehicle downtime. The Service Manager will establish productivity goals, review repair orders, reduce out‑of‑service vehicle metrics, and maintain a safe, professional shop environment that complies with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
- Clean driving record
- Automotive knowledge and background in automotive repairs
- 2+ years of management experience, preferably in a rental car, automotive shop, fleet maintenance, or service‑oriented environment
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
- Must be 18 years of or older
- Valid driver’s license
Qualifications
- Excellent mechanical knowledge
- 2–5+ years of management experience
- Experience leading technicians, managing repair operations, and controlling maintenance costs
