Overview
Due to continued expansion and increased long‑term workload, Mitie Environmental Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Asbestos Removal Supervisor to manage a wide variety of projects across the United Kingdom and develop the team.
Main Duties
- Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standard of workmanship, preventing and reducing the spread and/or exposure of asbestos.
- Always comply with company methodology, risk assessments, policies, and procedures to ensure the health, safety, welfare, and security of all.
- Assist the Contracts Manager with creating Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and work instructions that actively improve health, safety, and welfare.
- Ensure compliance with all current asbestos and health and safety legislative requirements.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and residents at all times.
- Complete and sign all relevant paperwork to meet legislative, licensable, and financial requirements.
- Carry out daily record‑keeping including a company timesheet, respirator check sheet, and health records for yourself, site teams, and agency staff under your responsibility.
- Lead, monitor, mentor, and assess workforce on an ongoing basis, carrying out Training Needs Analysis for on‑site staff, and providing monthly feedback to the Contracts Manager.
Person Specification
- Minimum of 24 months Asbestos Supervisor experience.
- Asbestos medical and face‑fit certificates.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety procedures pertaining to asbestos.
- Full UK driving licence (clean).
- Willingness to travel and work out of hours anywhere in the UK.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to promote a positive health and safety culture.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage at all levels.
- Personable demeanour.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
- Report any apparent deficiencies in work systems or equipment that may pose health, safety, or environmental risks.
- Use all work equipment and PPE correctly per training.
- Report issues or training needs to line manager or via the divisional incident reporting system.
- Tablet/PC literacy.
Information Security
- Ensure compliance with Mitie’s information security procedures.
- Proactively identify and report security risks to manager.
- Report actual and suspected security incidents.
