Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Gateshead, Tyne and Wear
Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience

The Role – Assistant Accountant
In this varied and hands-on role, the Assistant Accountant will support core finance activities including:
- Assisting in weekly and monthly management accounts preparation
- Managing the sales ledger and supporting credit control
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations
- Handling accruals, prepayments and fixed asset processes
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Posting journals and daily bank receipts
- Preparing quarterly VAT returns
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Contributing to ad-hoc finance projects as needed
About You
We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant who brings:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- AAT Qualified
- A solid understanding of accounting principles
- Proficiency using Excel and accounting systems
