Job Title: Data Governance Analyst

Reports to: Data Manager Department: Data and Information Team Location: Onsite UK – Manchester , Leeds, Birmingham  Contract Type: Full Time Permanent ( Please Note we are unable to provide any sponsorship support for this Role.) 

We are looking for a talented Data Governance Analyst to join our highly successful centralised data team. The Data Governance Analyst will collaborate across teams, improving governance standards and practices. You will have a solid understanding of data governance frameworks and excellent stakeholder engagement skills. Join this dynamic organisation and play a key role in enhancing data initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor data quality across core systems and identify accuracy or completeness issues.
  • Investigate data anomalies and support teams in resolving root‑cause problems.
  • Maintain data standards, definitions, and documentation (data dictionary, metadata, naming standards).
  • Support governance policies, data lifecycle practices, and compliance requirements (including GDPR).
  • Work with data stewards and business teams to improve data processes and ensure dataset ownership.
  • Map data flows, highlight gaps, and recommend improvements to strengthen data integrity.
  • Produce clear reports on data quality metrics, risks, and governance performance.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in data validation, data quality assessment, and governance processes.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, relational databases, metadata, and data lifecycle principles.
  • Confident using SQL, Excel, Power BI, and the Microsoft Fabric suite for analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to map data flows and document system‑to‑system data movement.
  • Familiarity with data catalogues, metadata management, and data dictionary tools.
  • Knowledge of data quality frameworks (accuracy, consistency, completeness, timeliness).
  • Experience with data governance platforms or Master Data Management (MDM) concepts (desirable).
  • Understanding of GDPR, data protection requirements, and good data handling practices.
  • Ability to analyse large datasets, identify anomalies, and interpret patterns.
  • Comfortable using query tools, dashboards, and validation scripts to test and verify data.
  • Exposure to cloud and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Lake and Data Warehouse.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain data issues to both technical and non‑technical colleagues.

Have clear and validated requirements Knowledge Transfer & Documentation • Comprehensive technical documentation delivered for all designed components. Data Quality & Data Security • Proactive identification and mitigation of technical and compliance risks. – No major security incidents linked to architectural design. – Adherence to data protection best practices and institutional IT policies.
