The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team at Amazon is fundamental to our operations – they’re the ones keeping vital machinery running at all times. As an RME Technician, you’ll maintain a wide range of equipment and workspaces while upholding health and safety best practices. You’ll help keep your colleagues safe and prevent machine downtime. Our RME Technicians boost the availability and quality of our equipment and work to enhance the operational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on a wide range of site equipment
  • Carry out reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse
  • Use the latest tools to maximise equipment effectiveness
  • Uphold all health and safety policies and practices
  • Support the development and progression of on‑site apprentices
  • Work on continuous improvement projects and roll out best practices across a range of EU sites

A Day in the Life

Your workday starts with planned preventive maintenance on site equipment, ensuring everything operates safely. You’ll respond quickly to breakdowns, investigate issues, implement solutions and suggest long‑term improvements. On‑site, you’ll also perform day‑to‑day maintenance such as painting and plumbing, liaise with contractors, and operate across various shifts to support 24/7 site operations.

About the Team

Our RME team keeps equipment performing at its best. Technically minded and team‑oriented, we troubleshoot and repair equipment across Amazon’s fulfilment centres, including automated packaging systems, key distribution equipment, building maintenance and cutting‑edge technology. We also maintain building safety and compliance and drive progress within the team and across Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • NFQ6 (Higher Certificate or Advanced Certificate in Engineering) or Solace/SOLAS level 6 mechanical/electrical/mechatronics
  • Experience with planned preventive maintenance systems
  • Experience fault finding within MHE (Material Handling Equipment)/automation systems
  • Experience interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience with conveyor maintenance, motor controllers/inverters
  • Proof of qualifications as required by Amazon’s Terms of Employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Apprentice trained, HNC, HND or BSc/BEng
  • Experience with high‑voltage switching
  • Experience with sortation machines
  • Experience maintaining/configuring bar code scanners
  • Experience with print‑and‑apply machines
  • Experience fault finding on building equipment such as HVAC, dock doors, plumbing and general building maintenance tasks
