Manufacturing Engineer

£36,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on skills and abilities)

Permanent opportunity in Wrexham

Working hours: 8 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and 8 am – 2:30 pm Friday.

About the Role

I’m working with a well‑established, global manufacturing business that specialises in advanced materials used across sectors including medical, defence, and industrial applications. Based at their North Wales site in Wrexham – a key hub for precision manufacturing – they’re seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support ongoing improvements in processes, efficiency, and product quality, while playing a vital role in driving continuous improvement across the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing production tooling, jigs, and fixtures
  • Supporting manufacturing cost estimation from customer enquiries
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives using tools like SPC, PFMEA, DoE, and Pareto analysis
  • Investigating and improving plant layout, workflow, and 5S standards
  • Leading or supporting engineering projects across the business
  • Conducting root‑cause analysis and implementing long‑term solutions
  • Collaborating with production teams to resolve day‑to‑day quality and process issues
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Managing relationships with external suppliers and contractors

Qualifications

  • Ideally Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (Mechanical preferred)
  • Experience in tooling, jig, or fixture design
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Confident working independently and within cross‑functional teams
  • Good understanding of continuous improvement methodologies
