One post with three service options: a part‑time 6PA clinical post with optional 1PA Liaison development role and 1PA clinical academic role.

Core clinical role: part‑time 6PA clinical post. Optional roles provide opportunities for strategic liaison and clinical academic work.

As a consultant you will work in the day‑patient programme and support the paediatric team at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital with inpatient refeeding, leading and shaping this innovative eating‑disorder development.

Job summary

Provide clinical leadership for CAMHS/paediatric day‑patient services and liaise with Paediatrics for patients admitted to paediatric wards (ChelWest). Review and support step‑down from Tier 4 CYP/ED units, deliver clinical assessments, and contribute to development and evaluation of treatment pathways. Actively collaborate with CYP and adult consultants and participate in the VSEDS Senior Leadership Team and Care Quality Group.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide clinical leadership for CAMHS/paediatric day‑patient services.
  2. Provide ED liaison alongside Paediatrics for patients admitted to paediatric wards at ChelWest.
  3. Review relevant patients in Tier 4 CYP/ED units to support step‑down to day care.
  4. Lead development and evaluation of treatment pathways in collaboration with therapy leads.
  5. Provide clinical assessments for new referrals (typically one or two new assessments weekly).
  6. Provide psychiatric input to the care of day patients.
  7. Work closely with stakeholders in the provision of CYPED services across NW London to ensure equity of access and integrated care pathways.
  8. Cross‑cover and collaborate with CYP and adult consultant colleagues.
  9. Active membership of the VSEDS Senior Leadership Team and Care Quality Group.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Primary Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration with GMC Licence to Practise
  • Section 12 MHA Approved
  • Approved Clinician status
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register (or expected within 6 months of interview date)
  • CAMHS training

  • MRCPsych
  • Additional postgraduate management qualification

About us

The Eating Disorder Service was established in 2002 and has grown significantly. It is based at South Kensington & Chelsea Mental Health Unit with additional outpatient facilities in North West London. It serves children, young people (CYP) and adults with all types of eating disorders and is supported by a strong multidisciplinary team including 6 consultant colleagues. Recent investment has expanded capacity in both CYP and adult services.

Salary and Contract

£109,725 to £145,478 per annum (pro rata if less than full time). Permanent contract. Part‑time working pattern.
