Crime and Regulatory Solicitor – Manchester – Up to £70,000

A well-established national practice with a strong reputation in complex criminal and regulatory matters is seeking a Crime and Regulatory Solicitor to join its growing team across its Manchester office.

The firm is recognised for handling high-profile and sensitive matters across a range of regulated sectors, acting for public sector bodies, corporates and other organisations. The Crime and Regulatory Solicitor will advise on complex investigations, enforcement action and regulatory proceedings, working closely with clients on strategic and reputationally sensitive matters across the firm’s Manchester office.

The Role:

  • Managing a varied caseload of criminal enforcement and regulatory prosecution matters on behalf of regulators, public sector clients and corporate organisations
  • Supporting organisations through investigations and prosecutions, including drafting witness statements, reviewing documentary evidence, conducting interviews under caution and preparing cases for court
  • Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court and, where appropriate, the Crown Court
  • Assisting with the supervision and development of trainee solicitors, paralegals and junior lawyers
  • Advising clients facing regulatory investigations and enforcement action, including providing strategic advice on evidence, engagement with regulators, interviews under caution and plea considerations
  • Managing matters from initial instruction through to conclusion, ensuring deadlines are met and clients receive a high standard of service
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues on complex and high-profile investigations and prosecutions
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive, practical and commercially focused advice
  • Contributing to business development initiatives, networking opportunities and the continued growth of the Crime and Regulatory team

About You:

  • Qualified Solicitor with experience in criminal, regulatory or enforcement work (typically 2–5 years’ PQE, although applications from candidates with equivalent experience will be considered)
  • Experience managing your own caseload of criminal and/or regulatory matters with appropriate supervision where required
  • Confident advocate with experience appearing in the Magistrates’ Court; Crown Court advocacy experience is advantageous
  • Strong analytical, drafting and case management skills, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive matters
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys supporting and mentoring junior colleagues
  • Commercially aware with a proactive, pragmatic and client-focused approach
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiastic about developing your practice and contributing to the continued success and growth of the team
