Job Purpose

  • The Placement Officer (Shared Lives) is responsible for supporting the delivery, development, and quality assurance of the Royal Greenwich Shared Lives service. The role involves recruiting, assessing, and monitoring Shared Lives carers; arranging and reviewing placements; ensuring all services meet Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards; and supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs, or other support requirements to live within family‑based care settings.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

  • Provide high‑quality Shared Lives placements that meet the needs of adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, or other support needs.
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and the values of the Royal Borough of Greenwich in all service activities.
  • Support implementation of Shared Lives policies, Directorate strategies, and quality standards.
  • Recruit, vet, assess, and recommend Shared Lives carers in line with CQC requirements and internal procedures.
  • Ensure placements meet CQC registration standards and Shared Lives quality expectations.
  • Participate in annual reviews of Shared Lives policies, practice, and service improvements.

Essential Experience Required

  • Substantial experience working directly with people with learning disabilities and/or social care needs, including residential care, supported living, day services, community‑based support, care management, outreach, or similar settings.
  • Experience working in a supervisory capacity (desirable).

Essential Qualifications Required

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (essential).
  • A higher professional qualification (e.g., Social Work, Nursing, NVQ/QCF Level 4 or 5 in Health & Social Care) is desirable.

Additional information to note

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week
  • Driving license is desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS & barred list check (Adult) required.
