OBJECTIVE
World Rugby wishes to appoint a Fan Data & Commercial Insights Manager, reporting into the Head of Commercial Strategy within the Revenue division.
The Fan Data & Commercial Insights Manager plays a central role in ensuring data sits at the heart of commercial decision‑making across the organisation. The role is responsible for managing all fan data requests, reporting, and fan data compliance from across the business. Turning complex and disparate data sources into clear commercial insights, strategic recommendations and robust financial modelling that support revenue growth and long‑term planning.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Act as the single point of ownership for all fan data and reporting requirements from across World Rugby and Rugby World Cups
- Own the management of business wide BI tool (DOMO) for all fan data inputs and outputs
- Manage the KPI tracking and reporting for Fan Acquisition and Conversion activities
- Prioritise, structure and deliver data outputs that support commercial, marketing, ticketing, partnerships, media rights and platform teams.
- Ensure consistency, clarity and commercial relevance in all fan and audience reporting
Commercial Insights & Strategic Recommendation
- Take raw data from multiple internal and external sources and translate it into actionable commercial insights.
- Develop clear, data‑led strategic recommendations to inform decision‑making at both functional and leadership level.
- Present insights in a concise, compelling and commercially focused way for senior stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of commercial and financial modelling across revenue lines (e.g. partnerships, ticketing, media, digital and fan monetisation), using data to inform forecasts and business decisions.
- Apply a strong commercial lens to data analysis, ensuring outputs directly support revenue optimisation and growth strategies.
Audience, Media & Digital Performance Analytics
- Own the analysis and reporting of audience and media performance across all digital and linear channels.
- Incorporate existing tracking tools across fan research, digital, social, and fan databases to monitor, analyse and report on digital platform performance, user behaviour and fan journeys.
- Combine digital analytics with wider audience, media and research data to provide a holistic view of fan engagement.
Data Compliance
- Lead the fan data compliance workstream across propositions, campaigns and products, working closely with Legal, Data Protection Officer, Platforms and Marketing to ensure all fan data capture, usage and transfer initiatives are designed and executed in a compliant manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a fast‑paced, data‑led commercial environment, working with multiple data sources to analyse consumer, audience or customer behaviour.
- Proven experience transforming complex datasets into clear commercial insight and recommendations.
- Hands‑on experience using digital and social tracking tools, including Google Analytics for performance monitoring, reporting and insight generation,
- Experience managing a compliance workstream, working closely with Legal, Data Protection Officers, Marketing, and Platforms teams
- Experience working with consumer research, digital media data and/or broadcast data.
- Experience with commercial or financial models to support revenue planning and strategic decisions.
- Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and BI tools (e.g. Domo, Tableau, Looker).
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across teams and with external agencies.
- Elite analytical capability with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to view data through a revenue and growth lens.
- Ability to turn unstructured data into a clear, compelling narrative.
- Confident communicator and presenter, able to influence senior stakeholders.
- Highly organised, resilient and comfortable operating in a high‑pressure environment.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Passion for sport, entertainment, media and consumer brands is an advantage.

Flexible Working
Most of our roles offer hybrid working. We ask colleagues to work :
- Three (3) days a week “out of home”. Two (2) “core” office days (Tuesday & Wednesday) and a third day of your choice to be with stakeholders.
- “Out of home” can mean working in a World Rugby office/hub, working from a venue or face to face meetings with partners/suppliers/agencies/teammates or other rugby family stakeholders.
- The remaining two (2) days are flexible to work from home (or the office).
- This applies to our Dublin & London offices.
