The Community Therapy Service in the North and North East of Oxfordshire are looking for two enthusiastic clinicians with an knowledge of Physical and Mental Health within the community.

Are you an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist wanting to join a dynamic team as a Senior Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner. We are looking for two Clinicians to share their expertise with the patients and the teams.

We are looking for a senior clinician with a mental health background, who is enthusiastic to develop their clinical practice within innovative and supportive multidisciplinary teams, treating patients in their own homes.

The Community Therapy Service aims to provide high quality integrated therapy services working as a key member of the community MDT. We work closely with other multidisciplinary team members, social services and voluntary organisations for adults with a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.

Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Practitioner – Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist you will provide high quality mental health rehabilitation to patients (adults) referred to or within the Community Therapy Service (CTS).

You will use your expertise to help patients achieve their rehab goals and guide other CTS practitioners in supporting patients with their mental health needs. You will be supporting our community response physical health pathway.

You will also work closely with the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) to minimise duplication, maximise efficiency and facilitate a seamless pathway between the two services for the patient understanding the roles and responsibilities of the clinicians for establishing and delivering a care plan for the patient.

Job responsibilities

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is an accelerator site for the Ageing Well national agenda, as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. This offers the opportunity to shape and develop both rapid responsive patient care and supporting patients with rehabilitation in their home environment. We are looking for someone who will be supported to develop their skills in both physical and mental health rehabilitation, in order to provide excellent, holistic care as part of a community MDT.

This role will involve the supervision and training of students, junior colleagues and be involved in teaching of multidisciplinary staff. We have excellent CPD opportunities available including CBT training and Masters modules such as frailty management.

Working in the community, it is essential for staff to own a car for travel and be able to work across extended hours and seven days in order to meet the needs of our patients.

Qualifications

  • Occupational therapy/Physiotherapy degree or equivalent
  • NMC/HCPC registration
  • Mental Health Experience

Experience

  • Previous NHS or UK Adult Social Care experience
  • Previous mental health experience as a band 5 or equivalent
  • Good knowledge of rehab & community services

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good knowledge and skills in elderly care/rehabilitation and have specific clinical expertise in elderly care and rehabilitation
  • Experience of supervising student placements
