Senior Mental Health Nurse – HMP Leeds, category B prison housing males aged 21+
Hours
37.5 hours per week, covering 7 days, all-day shifts (9.5 hours). No nights. Shifts include 8am–6pm and a late stop at 9pm which is rotated monthly. Weekends spread over 4–6 weeks; bank holidays included.
Salary
Full time position; annual salary up to £49,175 per annum FTE – depending on experience.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of patients’ mental health needs.
- Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
- Contribute to nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care, seeking out, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise care that matters to them.
- Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
- Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following policies and procedures, always considering safeguarding.

Requirements
- NMC Registered
- Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
