About The Role
The Data Developer plays a pivotal role within Halton Housing’s Data & Insight Team, supporting the organization’s mission to utilize data effectively for decision-making and service enhancement. This permanent, full-time position is based in Widnes, Cheshire, offering a hybrid working model that combines office presence with remote flexibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality data solutions that provide trusted insights across the organization. Working closely with various teams, the Data Developer will turn complex data sets into meaningful reports and dashboards, enabling informed strategic and operational decisions. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a data professional passionate about transforming data into actionable intelligence, ensuring data integrity, and building innovative data products that influence business outcomes.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in SQL (T‑SQL, SSMS) and a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts. A degree or professional qualification in a relevant business or technical discipline is preferred, alongside proven experience in data delivery projects. Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric is desirable, as is experience working within a cloud environment, particularly Azure. Strong communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential, enabling effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders. Candidates should have a good understanding of relevant IT legislation and regulations, along with a genuine interest in emerging technologies and industry trends. A proactive approach to problem‑solving and attention to detail are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Develop and code DAX Measures and Dimensional Models within Power BI to create visually compelling dashboards and reports aligned with business requirements.
- Build and deliver high‑quality Power BI reports and dashboards that facilitate data‑driven decision‑making across departments.
- Implement data engineering solutions using Microsoft Fabric, SQL, and Python to support organizational analytics needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory, utilizing Azure Data Lake and Azure DevOps for seamless data integration and deployment.
- Provide second and third‑line support for the Data Team, managing support tickets efficiently and resolving issues promptly.
- Monitor the performance and load of the Data Warehouse, ensuring optimal operation and data accuracy.
- Perform routine SQL database administration tasks, including maintenance, backups, and performance tuning.
- Create comprehensive documentation for data engineering solutions and insight datasets to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain SSRS reports to meet various reporting requirements across the organization.
