Role Description

A hybrid role based in London & Suffolk, (with travel as required with flexibility for some home-working).

We are looking for a Senior Risk Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO),

supporting a major civil works programme. This role sits at the heart of project delivery, helping ensure effective risk management drives successful outcomes.

You will play a key part in leading risk activities, improving processes, and supporting delivery teams through proactive, insights-led risk management.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large-scale project environment and be comfortable collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and coordinating risk management activities across the programme
  • Providing expert risk advice and services aligned with PMO processes
  • Managing and supporting a team of Risk Managers
  • Collaborating with internal teams and partners to ensure effective risk practices
  • Supporting programme-wide risk activities (e.g. forecasting, reporting, analysis)
  • Producing risk reports, dashboards, and insights to inform decision-making
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation in risk management approaches
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging stakeholders at all levels

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds with experience in large or complex programmes.

Key Skills & Experience: ESSENTIAL

  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across all levels
  • Very strong mitigation-related skills underpinned by project controls experience
  • Experience delivering risk management in complex project environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into clear insights
  • Experience leading or contributing to Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA)
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams effectively

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience across broader project controls (cost, schedule, change)
  • Professional membership (e.g. IRM, PMI, APM or similar)
  • Experience in infrastructure, construction, or other large-scale programmes
  • Relevant risk or project management qualifications

Who You Are:

You bring more than just project control skills—you bring the right behaviours that align with how we show up every day:

  • You really care about helping others succeed
  • You proactively look for ways to add value, even when it’s not explicitly asked
  • You’re a critical thinker who asks smart questions and seeks to understand before acting
  • You’re digitally literate, adaptable, and comfortable working with modern tools
  • You’re curious, proactive, and always looking to improve
  • You’re credible, authentic, and can influence others with integrity
  • You’re emotionally intelligent, self-aware, and respectful in how you show up
  • You bring innovative thinking and don’t default to the obvious
  • You focus on results and optimisation, not just activity
  • You’re collaborative—you don’t sit in silence, and you make space for others
  • You’re accountable and own your outcomes
  • You balance resilience with compassion—kindness matters here
  • You’re the kind of person who likes to go above and beyond
