Senior Project Planner – Major Water Programme
Location: Remote (with occasional travel to London)
Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 + Benefits
A bespoke consultancy delivering planning expertise across critical UK programmes is seeking Senior Project Planners to support the successful delivery of a major water programme.
This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team working on complex, long-term projects that will play a key role in enhancing and modernising essential water infrastructure. You will work closely with project leadership, engineering teams, contractors, and key stakeholders to develop robust programmes that drive successful project delivery.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Project Planner, you will be responsible for building, managing, and maintaining integrated project schedules across multiple workstreams. You will provide planning insight, challenge delivery assumptions, and support project teams in identifying risks, opportunities, and critical path activities.
This role will suit an experienced planner who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and can confidently engage with stakeholders across all levels of a programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project programmes from concept through to delivery
- Build and manage logic-linked schedules using best-practice planning methodologies
- Undertake critical path analysis and identify schedule risks and opportunities
- Provide accurate forecasting, progress updates, and programme performance reporting
- Support project teams with programme recovery strategies and mitigation planning
- Ensure programme outputs align with project objectives, milestones, and contractual requirements
- Work closely with delivery teams, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain programme integrity
- Support governance processes and provide planning expertise throughout the project lifecycle
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner on major infrastructure or capital delivery programmes
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts and programme management principles
- Experience working within client, consultancy, or contractor environments
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6
- Experience developing schedules using First Principles Planning methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate within complex project environm
