About the Role
A growing infrastructure consultancy is looking to appoint a Head of Project Controls to add additional leadership to continue to develop and expand its Project Controls capability across major UK infrastructure programmes, with a particular focus on National Grid and wider power and energy delivery.
This is a senior leadership role based from Manchester, working closely with major infrastructure clients to shape, secure and deliver Project Controls workstreams across complex, regulated programmes. The role will combine strategic leadership, client engagement, business development, team growth and high-quality project delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the growth of the existing Project Controls division, with service lines across planning, cost, risk, change, reporting and programme governance. A key part of the role will be identifying opportunities, mining existing clients, developing new client conversations, supporting bids and converting relationships into long-term Project Controls work.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Project Controls leader who is commercially aware, client-facing and confident operating at senior stakeholder level across major infrastructure, power, energy, utilities or regulated capital programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Project Controls function across major infrastructure and energy programmes.
- Expand the service offering across planning, cost control, risk management, change control, reporting, governance and performance management.
- Working directly with key client stakeholders in identifying, shaping and securing Project Controls workstreams.
- Build senior client relationships and act as a trusted advisor across project and programme controls.
- Support and lead work-winning activity, including bids, proposals, frameworks, client presentations and early-stage opportunity development.
- Take ownership of Project Controls pipeline development, utilisation, forecasting and service-line performance.
- Provide leadership across live programmes, ensuring strong governance, accurate reporting and consistent delivery standards.
- Recruit, lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Project Controls team.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience leading Project Controls within a Consultancy.
- An expertise in Project Controls across planning, scheduling, cost, risk, change, reporting and performance management.
- Experience working on major infrastructure, power, energy, utilities, transport, water, nuclear, defence or regulated capital programmes.
- Strong business development capability, including bids, proposals, client presentations and framework growth.
- Experience leading teams and developing Project Controls capability.
