Senior Quantity Surveyor

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major Highways Infrastructure | Exeter

A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the delivery team on a major highways infrastructure programme in the Exeter region.

Reporting into a Project Manager/Commercial Manager, you’ll take ownership of all commercial aspects of your project section, protecting financial performance and contractual position while building strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead commercial management across highways works, safeguarding contractual and financial position
• Manage procurement, subcontract tendering, evaluation and appointment
• Prepare valuations, invoices, cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow
• Oversee change control – identifying, valuing and recovering variations/compensation events
• Administer subcontracts including payments, instructions, re-measurement and final accounts
• Monitor cost, risk and opportunity to drive commercial efficiency
• Mentor junior commercial staff

What we’re looking for:

• Strong civil engineering / highways commercial background
• Excellent working knowledge of NEC contracts
• Confident negotiator, comfortable challenging and influencing stakeholders
• Track record in subcontract procurement and commercial reporting
• Collaborative, values-driven approach
