At MEI, we are looking for an experienced, multi-skilled electrician with strong capabilities in both electrical installation and advanced fault finding to join our growing engineering team.

This is a hands-on, technically varied role working across marine and industrial projects, where you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical installations as well as diagnosing and resolving complex electrical faults across a wide range of systems, including motors, drives, and control systems.

Our work spans small workboats, commercial vessels, offshore assets, BESS sites and industrial facilities across the UK and internationally. We are therefore seeking someone confident working in demanding environments, capable of working independently, and committed to delivering high standards of workmanship from installation through to commissioning and fault resolution.

MEI is proud to be an Employee-Owned business, meaning our people are at the heart of everything we do. Our employee ownership model reflects our commitment to long-term stability, collaboration, and shared success across the team.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, fault finding, and repair work across a variety of marine and industrial environments.

This role requires a balance of hands-on installation capability and strong diagnostic skills, working both in the workshop and on client sites, supporting projects from initial installation through to commissioning and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and repair work on marine and industrial systems.
  • Install wiring systems, control panels, distribution boards, motors, and associated electrical equipment.

  • Work with motors, motor control systems, drives (VSDs/inverters), and control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Carry out testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Support project engineers and installation teams to ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Undertake onsite installation and service work at UK and international project locations when required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and assist with project reporting where required.

About You

  • Motors and motor control systems
  • Generator and engine control systems
  • Control systems and industrial/marine automation

  • Strong hands-on experience in both electrical installation and fault finding.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and safe working practices.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
