About the Role

As a Child Protection Social Worker within the North Bristol area team, you will play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families through complex circumstances.

You will work with children and families across Child in Need (CiN), Child Protection (CP), and Court proceedings, providing timely intervention and support to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.

Working within a collaborative and supportive environment, you will build effective relationships with families and partner agencies, helping to promote safety, stability, and positive change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake statutory social work duties for children and families in need and those requiring protection.
  • Manage cases across Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court proceedings.
  • Complete assessments, plans, and interventions that are child‑focused and outcome‑driven.
  • Work collaboratively with families to identify needs, reduce risk, and develop effective safety plans.
  • Support and facilitate meaningful change within families.
  • Progress permanence planning where required to ensure children achieve stability and security.
  • Work effectively within multi‑agency partnerships to safeguard children and improve outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recording in line with statutory requirements.

Requirements

  • Hold a recognised Social Work qualification.
  • Be registered with Social Work England.
  • Have substantial experience within children’s social care, particularly Child Protection work.
  • Have experience working with Child in Need, Child Protection, and Court processes.
  • Be confident managing complex cases and making sound professional decisions.
  • Demonstrate strong assessment, planning, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Be a driver with access to a vehicle.
  • Be able to commit to office attendance, with a maximum of one day working from home each week.
