About the Role
Grade Level (for internal use): 14 The Role: The Head of Finance Transformation is accountable for the end-to-end transformation portfolio across the Finance function—spanning operating model, process modernization, technology enablement, data/controls evolution, and AI/automation initiatives. This role serves as the “umbrella” leader coordinating both large-scale and incremental change, ensuring initiatives are prioritized, funded, executed, and adopted to deliver measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities and Impact
- Finance Transformation Strategy & Roadmap – Partner with CFO, Finance Leadership Team (FLT), and key enterprise partners to define the future-state Finance vision and target operating model. Build, maintain, and continuously refine an integrated multi-year transformation roadmap across Finance (people, process, technology, data, controls). Establish transformation standards (delivery methodology, stage gates, documentation, and KPI/benefits tracking).
- Portfolio Leadership & Program Governance – Own the Finance transformation portfolio: intake, prioritization, sequencing, dependency management, and resource planning. Drive executive governance forums; provide transparent status reporting, risk management, and decision support. Coordinate delivery across Finance process owners, Finance Technology, Data/Engineering, Shared Services/COEs, and external partners. Manage transformation delivery partners (consultants/contractors). Partner with the Enterprise PMO to ensure visibility, consistency, and alignment with enterprise initiatives.
- Value Creation & Benefit Realization – Lead business case development, ROI modeling, and investment prioritization; ensure benefits are baselined, tracked, and realized. Implement value tracking dashboards and outcomes reporting for CFO/FLT.
- Change Management & Adoption – Build and execute a Finance-wide change strategy: communications, training, stakeholder engagement, role/skill evolution, and adoption measurement. Build strong cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment across Finance, Technology, Data, Shared Services, and business partners; proactively manage expectations, dependencies, and communications to drive adoption. Ensure new ways of working are embedded (controls, ownership, SOPs, KPIs, continuous improvement).
Compensation / Benefits
U.S. candidates only: S&P Global anticipates a base salary range of $150,481 to $263,788, based on location, experience, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. What We’re Looking For
- Basic Required Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CPA, or equivalent preferred. 12+ years in Finance transformation, consulting, finance operations, or enterprise program leadership. Proven track record leading cross‑functional portfolios (process + technology + change) in complex global organizations. Strong financial acumen (planning, close, controls) and experience with ERP/Finance platforms; strong understanding of data and governance concepts.
- Core Skills & Competencies – Portfolio/program leadership; executive communication and influence. Operating model design; process re‑engineering (Lean/Six Sigma plus). Benefit realization and KPI frameworks. Governance, risk, and controls mindset. Change leadership; talent/skills strategy for Finance modernization.
