The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established B2B beauty business looking for a Product Development Assistant to support their New Product Development (NPD) Manager – helping bring new products from initial concept through to launch.
This is a fantastic early career opportunity, limited product development experience is required – just curiosity, strong organisational instincts, and a real interest in beauty and cosmetics.
The Role
Supporting new product development
- Helping coordinate product briefs, samples, specifications and timelines
- Liaising with suppliers to request samples, costings, lead times and packaging information
- Tracking sample requests, approvals and feedback
- Keeping product development trackers and timelines up to date
Quality control
- Supporting quality checks on new and existing products – packaging, labelling, batch consistency and overall presentation
- Checking delivered products against approved samples and flagging any concerns
- Keeping clear records of QC checks and any issues that need following up
Product & brand administration
- Maintaining product records – specifications, barcodes, descriptions, pricing and supplier documentation
- Supporting packaging, labelling and artwork admin
- Helping review existing product ranges – sales performance, stock status, discontinued or slow-moving lines
Cross-team collaboration
- Working closely with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Compliance, Education and Brand
- Supporting the onboarding of new brands into the business – coordinating product, supplier and compliance information
- Gathering market, competitor and customer insight to support new product ideas
- Attending UK exhibitions to support sourcing, trend research and supplier meetings
About You
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Confident, clear communicator – comfortable liaising directly with suppliers
- Able to manage a few things at once and stay on top of deadlines
- A genuine interest in beauty, cosmetics, products
- Comfortable using Excel, Word and Outlook
- Reliable, proactive, and happy to take ownership of tasks
- Previous experience in product development, buying, QC or a beauty-related environment is a bonus – not a requirement.
