About the Role
This role involves supporting business planning through capital allocation, portfolio analytics, and risk assessment.
Responsibilities
- Support business planning through capital allocation, portfolio analytics and risk assessment.
- Work with underwriting teams to analyse portfolio volatility and provide insight to support portfolio optimisation and pricing decisions.
- Own and develop the analytical frameworks used for Group and local capital allocation.
- Build and maintain tools that turn capital model outputs into practical, business-focused insights.
- Communicate capital model results and portfolio volatility measures to stakeholders across the business.
- Lead Solvency Capital Requirement (SCR) forecasting, working alongside Capital Management to support capital and dividend planning.
- Provide capital analytics for strategic initiatives, including corporate reinsurance programmes, capital optimisation projects and other transactions.
- Manage the annual update of the Group Capital Model.
- Assess the capital impact of business growth, portfolio changes and strategic initiatives.
- Lead stress testing and capital recovery analysis to understand the impact of adverse scenarios.
Qualifications
You’ll be a qualified actuary, or have equivalent experience, with a strong background in capital and a genuine interest in applying technical analysis to business decisions.
Required Skills
- Around 10 years’ experience in capital modelling or a similar actuarial role.
- Strong technical capital modelling skills.
- Experience supporting capital allocation, portfolio optimisation or business planning.
- A good understanding of portfolio volatility and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience using capital models to support strategic decision-making.
- Knowledge of Igloo would be an advantage.
Preferred Skills
This role would also suit someone currently working in regulatory capital who is looking to move into a broader, more commercially focused position with greater exposure to underwriting and business strategy.
