Job Summary
We are recruiting Deputy Managers for Lancashire County Council’s Residential Children’s Services as part of our “Where Our Children Live” programme. The initiative focuses on creating safe, supportive homes for Lancashire children and modernises and expands residential childcare across the county. These roles provide experienced Assistant Managers an opportunity to step into a key leadership position. Deputy Managers will work core hours (Mon‑Fri, 7‑7 pm) and deliver leadership, supervision and guidance to senior residential childcare workers and residential childcare workers. They collaborate with the Home Manager to ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the home and balance operational and direct care responsibilities, including oversight of care plans, monitoring of health and educational outcomes, and maintaining strong relationships with external professionals. Attendance at reviews and multi‑agency meetings is expected, as well as contributions to wider service projects, initiatives and staff development. Deputy Managers also work collaboratively as part of the broader management team across Children’s Residential Services, taking a lead on key areas of development and supporting the ongoing training and growth of the workforce. The role is anchored in the council’s vision that children, young people and their families are safe, healthy and able to achieve their full potential, underpinned by five key outcomes: safety, education, health, voice, and a high quality of life in Lancashire.
