Consultant Paediatrician CAIST *Generous Recruitment Package*

  • All of our substantive Consultant vacancies attract a ‘New Starter’ package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a recruitment bonus

The Trust is looking to recruit a part time Consultant Paediatrician to join our CAIST team recognising that a large part of the work involves liaising and working alongside our colleagues in the local acute Trusts including Paediatricians and other medical Consultants.

Main duties of the job

This post relates to the Children’s Assessment and Intensive Support Team (CAIST) who provide urgent assessments for service users under 18 years old presenting in crisis across Norfolk including within the 3 acute Trusts in Norfolk and Waveney (The James Paget University Trust, The Norfolk & Norwich University Trust and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital) and brief intensive support to service users that need it.

Qualifications

  • Full registration with the GMC with licence to practice
  • MRCPCH or equivalent
  • Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 3 months of gaining CCT
  • Evidence of experience of working within CAMHS
  • Section 12(2) approval at or following appointment
  • Approved Clinician at or following appointment
  • SPIN or GRID accreditation in mental health with RCPCH
  • Postgraduate thesis
  • A postgraduate qualification in Medical Education

Experience

  • Relevant experience in the speciality of paediatrics and child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Full training that is, or could be, recognised as suitable for approval under Section12 of the Mental Health Act
  • The diagnosis and treatment of complex mental illness in children and young people
  • The management of complex mental health needs in children and young people
  • Knowledge and experience of using the Mental Capacity Act
  • Three years’ supervised training in an appropriate Specialist training programme or equivalent
  • Skills in psychological or social therapies
  • Experience of implementing service change to enhance the quality of patient care
  • Experience of leadership and management
