About the Role

Ideally you will come from a background such as automotive, aerospace, space, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical technology, railway, infrastructure & transportation, or aviation. This is a role for an inquisitive engineer who wants to join a supportive and fun team to implement and champion systems safety and regulatory compliance in a systems engineering environment.

You will roll up your sleeves to find creative, pragmatic and compliant solutions to ensure our products and services adhere to the highest standards of regulatory compliance. The role covers a wide range of regulations, from CE marking directives, environmental and export control to licence compliance and AI. You will also learn about system safety, planning and developing safety and environmental cases for the UK MOD and overseas forces. You will work directly with internal and external customers and be a key part of the project team.

Initially you will support new and legacy ground projects in Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM). As you develop, opportunities to work with our Space colleagues will arise. You will receive training, support and mentoring from the team and a range of experts.

How You Will Contribute to the Team

  • Bring ideas to the table and ask questions or spot red flags.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders on the importance of systems safety throughout the whole project, from start to finish.
  • Understand how compliance, export control, GDPR and AI impact systems safety.
  • Become the key point of contact and lead for safety and regulatory compliance on your projects.

About You

  • Engineering experience (systems, electronics, electrical, systems safety).
  • Safety experience or knowledge within an engineering environment.
  • Pragmatic, solutions‑based mindset; comfortable with ambiguity and change.
  • Natural curiosity to learn more about how safety‑critical systems impact people, environments and products.
  • Comfortable speaking to people across the company hierarchy, adapting your communication style for technical, non‑technical, detailed or big‑picture questions.
  • Experience with creating, maintaining and updating reports, data, spreadsheets and documents.

If you are not a 100% match, Airbus supports your personal growth with customised development solutions.

Many of our staff work flexibly in many different ways, including part‑time. Please discuss the flexibility you need; we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Airbus is committed to achieving workforce diversity and creating an inclusive working environment. We welcome all applications irrespective of social and cultural background, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation or religious belief. Airbus is a Disability Confident Employer. Applicants with a disability or long‑term condition under the Equality Act 2010 may opt in during application submission.

This job requires an awareness of potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
