At SiXworks, we build secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security missions. Our teams work on complex problems where reliability, security, and speed of innovation matter.
We’re looking for a Security Platform Engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges and wants their work to have real operational impact.
What You’ll Do
As a Security Platform Engineer, you’ll help design, build, and deliver secure digital solutions in highly secure environments. You’ll work alongside engineers, architects, and delivery specialists to develop technology that enables faster, safer decision‑making for critical operations.

- Administer and maintain Splunk for log aggregation, monitoring, alerting, and threat detection
- Operate and manage Nessus for vulnerability scanning, reporting, and remediation tracking
- Integrate security tools into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native workflows
- Automate security processes using scripting or infrastructure‑as‑code approaches
- Collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to embed security best practices
- Maintain artefacts as code and documentation for systems, processes, and configurations
- Document configuration of security tooling
What We’re Looking For
We value people who take ownership, think critically, and enjoy working as part of a collaborative team tackling complex challenges. You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re particularly interested in people with skills/experience in:
- Proven experience as a Security Engineer, Platform Engineer, or similar role
- Deploying and managing EDR agents
- Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes
- Experience managing and administering SIEM tooling (e.g. Splunk)
- Experience deploying vulnerability scanning and analysis tooling (e.g. Nessus)
- Kubernetes observability (e.g. fluentbit)
- Familiarity with container security principles and tools
- Scripting or automation skills (e.g. Python, Bash, or similar)
- Understanding of security frameworks and best practices
- Knowledge of configuring SIEM tooling
- Basic understanding of threat frameworks, such as ATT&CK
- Experience with additional SIEM or observability platforms
- Experience with Microsoft Defender
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and pipeline security
- Certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CISSP, CEH, or similar
- Exposure to threat modelling and security architecture design
Just as important are curiosity, strong problem solving ability, and the motivation to continuously improve how technology is designed and delivered.
