Job Description:

Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract

Description

We see a world where we all contribute to a thriving planet and together, we are a collective force for good. The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification which recognises outstanding achievements, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like‑minded individuals. We work with businesses to rigorously measure their carbon footprint and social value, engage their staff and supply chain to unlock their knowledge and drive passion for change, and communicate their progress to build a positive brand. We help businesses put a purpose at the heart of their organisation that brings social, environmental, and economic considerations together.

We’re looking for someone to lead the design and planning to transform Planet Mark’s carbon data framework. You will be responsible for designing a new end‑end carbon data lifecycle, spanning member data submissions, internal inputs, data quality, audit readiness and standards compliance. You will build the framework, governance and ways of working that enable high quality, transparent carbon reporting and analytics at scale and collaborate with Product and Engineering to bring it to life.

This role is being offered as a Fixed Term Contract for a period of 9 months.

What that means day to day

  • Design and implement a single, unified carbon data framework as a “single source of truth” across submissions, processing, and analytics
  • Ensure audit‑ready design with clear evidence trails, version control, and reproducible calculations aligned to key standards (e.g. SBTi, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064‑3)
  • Establish strong data governance including quality standards, automated validation checks, and defined ownership for issue resolution
  • Enable scalable and efficient data processing by standardising intake, triage, and workflows, reducing reliance on spreadsheets and operational risk
  • Develop structured taxonomies and boundaries, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 definitions, activity data types, and reporting rules
  • Define input data requirements (“data contracts”) including mandatory fields, validation criteria, acceptable evidence, and submission timelines
  • Build and maintain a canonical data model with standard entities, relationships, and naming conventions
  • Create and document calculation methodologies, including emission factor selection, fallback rules, and reporting standards
  • Implement metadata, data lineage, and versioning practices, including a managed emission‑factor library and framework updates
  • Establish data quality, controls, and audit processes, including assurance readiness, evidence management, and retention/reporting policies

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Proven experience designing and managing data frameworks, governance structures, and data quality controls in regulated or assurance‑led environments
  • Strong understanding of corporate carbon accounting, including Scopes 1, 2 and 3, and familiarity with standards such as the GHG Protocol (ISO 14064‑3 knowledge is a plus)
  • Experience building audit‑ready data processes, including data lineage, versioning, reproducibility, and evidence management
  • Ability to translate complex standards and methodologies into clear, practical rules, templates, and workflows
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience collaborating cross‑functionally (Product, Engineering, Analytics and commercial/client teams)
  • Strong decision‑making ability, with experience prioritising effectively and managing trade‑offs
  • Highly analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data and methodologies
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to explain assumptions, uncertainty, and technical concepts to non‑specialists

What you’ll get in return

Personal Health & Wellbeing / Benefits

  • Generous annual leave
  • Healthcare Plan
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Rewards Program – access to discounts and cashback
  • LinkedIn Learning License for upskilling & development
