Overview
The Electrical Engineering Compliance Manager works with the wider Estates Maintenance team on the Trust’s electrical system and supports the Principal Electrical Engineer with the broader electrical strategy for the Trust.
Responsibilities
As Authorised Person, the manager covers all Authorised Person duties in electrical services, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and providing assurance to the Trust board that statutory compliance and safe management, maintenance, operation and reactive response for engineering systems are achieved. The role aids the Principal Electrical Engineer in delivering planned and reactive electrical services and programmes across the GOSH estate, ensuring contractors comply, supervising their presence and work, and providing guidance as required.
The manager is also the primary Authorised Person for LV sitewide and the responsible person for the Generator Testing Programme, a fundamental safety requirement. The position serves as deputy to the Principal Electrical Engineer when needed and operates as part of the Estates on‑call rota, exercising autonomous decision‑making and escalating matters appropriately, including out‑of‑hours work.
Responsibilities include procuring works to manage electrical activities, producing board‑level reports, maintaining records to evidence compliance, and working with others to develop service‑related plans and procedures aligned with safe systems of work, HTM & regulatory/mandatory standards, and the CAFM system. The role guarantees that policies, SOPs, legislation changes and HTM updates are current and that CAFM data meets HTM/SFG20 requirements, while engaging with staff across the organisation to facilitate access to clinically operational areas.
