Shift Lead Volunteer (Altrincham BookShop Thursday afternoon 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
Please note: This role is only suitable for applicants aged 18 and over.
About the role
By undertaking this role you will enable the shop to open for trading and close up, supervise and lead other volunteers in the tasks and duties that keep the shop running smoothly, and support the management team with task management.
What you will be doing
- Opening or closing the shop
- Ensuring the shop is ready to trade or cashing up at the end of trade
- Allocating tasks to members of the volunteer team
- Selecting, sorting, and pricing donated stock
- Chatting with customers and providing excellent service at the till
- Researching valuable and vintage stock
- Visual merchandising: creating eye‑catching window and in‑store displays
- Photographing and listing items for the online shop
- Occasionally lifting boxes; a safe working environment is provided with comprehensive health and safety training
The skills you need
- Reliability and punctuality for your volunteering
- Full training will be provided; no prior experience is required
- Happy to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with others
- Confident communicator
