Job Description:

As a Study Support Service Manager for the NIHR South West Central Regional Research Delivery Network (SWC RRDN), you will assume a key leadership position in the Regional Study Support Service which serves as the cornerstone of the Research Delivery Network (RDN), facilitating the effective delivery of studies throughout the system while enhancing strategic capacity and capability.

You will manage the delivery of critical services across a defined portfolio of specialities and settings, including both pre‑approval and post‑approval services. The role will support the implementation and cascade of national strategic direction within the SWC RRDN.

Our team currently works in a hybrid way, with at least 40 % of time face‑to‑face. This role will involve engaging with multiple partners across the region and will require presence at a variety of locations across our regional geography.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a main point of contact for sponsors and research delivery sites, providing a consistent and coordinated experience, and proactively supporting in identifying opportunities for capacity and capability development
  • Provide strategic support to designated research delivery sites, drawing on and contributing to national network intelligence
  • Manage the activities that support study sponsors, funders and investigators to access data and processes to enable them to effectively manage the delivery of their studies and request support from the RDN as required
  • Work in collaboration with the Regional Specialty and Setting Leads to facilitate communities of practice and events, encouraging system‑level collaboration to solve operational challenges and pursue opportunities for strategic development
  • Ensure seamless coordination with other services and functions within the RRDN and across the national network, working with other teams to provide a consistent experience and work as one organisation
  • Workload allocation and supervision (with potential for line management) of Study Support Service Facilitators
