The Opportunity
As our Operations Manager – Customs & Brokerage, you will take ownership of the day‑to‑day management of customs, brokerage, transit, and non‑transport services across the UK. You will lead operational performance, ensure regulatory compliance, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and build strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic decisions while making a meaningful impact on the growth and success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Lead the day‑to‑day delivery of customs, brokerage, transit, and non‑transport services, ensuring operational excellence, efficiency, and compliance.
- Leadership & People Management: Provide inspiring leadership, developing high‑performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, delivering exceptional service and supporting new business implementations.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with UK customs regulations, import/export requirements, and company policies while proactively managing operational risk.
- Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Drive process optimisation, embrace automation and new technologies, and champion initiatives that improve productivity and service delivery.
- Performance & Reporting: Monitor operational performance, analyse key metrics, and provide insights that support effective decision‑making and business growth.
- Travel & On‑Site Support: Represent the business at customer meetings, audits, and operational reviews, with occasional travel within the UK and Europe.
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- A minimum of three years’ experience in customs brokerage management
- A background within freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Experience leading teams within a fast‑paced operational environment
- Strong knowledge of UK customs procedures, import and export regulations, transit processes, and non‑transport brokerage services
Skills
- Strong leadership and people management capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and a customer‑focused mindset
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
- Proficiency with customs software, TMS platforms, and operational systems
- Highly organisations with exceptional attention to detail
Qualifications
- An industry‑recognised qualification in logistics, customs, international trade, or a related discipline is desirable

Salary & Benefits
- Basic Salary of up to £60,000 per annum
- Car Allowance of up to £6,000 per year
