Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main liaison between the Project and commercial and recreational fishing stakeholders, including individual fishers, producer organisations, fisheries associations, and regulators.
  • Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with fishing communities and representative bodies.
  • Provide clear, timely information on project activities, schedules, and potential impacts on fishing operations.
  • Coordinate the dissemination of notices to mariners, fisheries briefings, and project updates relevant to fisheries.
  • Gather, record and communicate feedback, concerns, and local knowledge from fishers to the Project team.
  • Support and, where appropriate, attend fisheries meetings, port visits, and community events.
  • Organise and plan community relation events/activities as required to support project delivery.
  • Support compliance with marine licence conditions, Environmental Management Plans, and Fisheries Management Plans.
  • Assist in identifying, mitigating and managing potential impacts on fisheries and fishing activity.
  • Contribute to environmental monitoring, reporting, and adaptive management measures relating to fisheries.
  • Log, track and support the resolution of fisheries‑related issues, complaints or claims in line with Project procedures.
  • Prepare/draft responses for major project enquiries or complaints from community/stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of mitigation measures to reduce disruption to fishing activities.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors, environmental teams and marine coordinators to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of engagement activities, stakeholder interactions, and agreed actions.
  • Prepare briefings, reports and summaries for internal and external audiences.
  • Provide fisheries‑related advice to the Project team to inform decision‑making and programme planning.
  • Prepare articles for internal and external channels and publications – including media, social media, and video content.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the fishing industry, marine stakeholders, or within a marine/environmental role.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust.
  • Good understanding of commercial fishing practices and the challenges faced by the fishing industry.
  • Knowledge of the marine environment and offshore energy projects.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and consenting processes for offshore infrastructure.
  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Health and Safety awareness relevant to marine and offshore environments.
  • Full UK Drivers Licence.
