About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Major Projects Capital Delivery team based in Stoke or Telford. The team is responsible for delivering major construction, reinforcement and new connection schemes across the 33/66/132kV network, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of essential infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and control project work across plant, overhead and underground systems.
- Ensure project safety, with a strong focus on strict compliance with Construction and Design Management (CDM) 2015 regulations.
- Deliver multiple projects to a recognised project management standard (APM), including forecasting and meeting construction and financial milestones.
- Manage project‑related network risk.
- Oversee procurement and contractor management, ensuring suppliers meet safety, quality and performance expectations.
- Carry out Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties.
- Support the maintenance and problem‑solving of existing plant and equipment.
- Lead the commissioning and maintenance of protection systems.
- Operate across the network services area with mobility and participate in standby duties according to a pre‑determined rota.
Who we’re looking for
- Practical knowledge of protection and control systems, including commissioning experience.
- Current Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status with operational authorisation up to 132kV.
- Experience working within a DNO, iDNO or ICP environment.
- Proven background in a high‑hazard industry with a strong commitment to health and safety.
- Familiarity with plant specifications and confidence tackling technical challenges.
- Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification; if not achieved, completion of either HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering or a Foundation Degree in Electrical Power Engineering is required.
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, able to work autonomously and perform effectively under pressure.
