The post-holder is responsible for delivering and helping the Principal Pharmacists to develop a high quality pharmacy service across a variety of different specialities on a rotational basis, in accordance with objectives set by section leads. This will include providing clinical pharmacy services to cancer services, clinical nutrition and paediatric specialities, and managing the day‑to‑day running of aseptic services, including cytotoxic and central intravenous additive services (CIVAS) and dispensary services for cancer patients.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacists who are looking for the next challenge. You will ideally have completed or nearly completed your FS1 (or equivalent) and want to further develop clinical skills and obtain further exposure to technical services. Training and support will be given in all rotations to ensure you meet the requirements for FS2.
- Work approximately 9‑month blocks in the following rotations:
- Block A – Cancer services Clinical pharmacy
- Block B – CIVAS with paediatric clinical pharmacy
- Block C – Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) Service and production
- Block D – Cancer Services Clinical Pharmacy
- Block E – Cancer Services Clinical Pharmacy
You will also be expected to participate in the weekend and bank holiday service including responsibility for the securing of the department. Outside of working hours the on‑call pharmacist is solely responsible for providing a pharmacy service to the hospital including advice on medicines and emergency supply.

Education & professional Qualifications
- Master’s degree in pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Currently undertaking post‑graduate education e.g. clinical diploma, PTQA or having completed one of these
- Registered supplementary or independent prescriber
Experience
- Significant relevant experience working in hospital pharmacy
- Comprehensive Band 6 rotation, including Aseptic Services & Oncology/Haematology
- Broad based clinical experience
- Experience of training or managing others
Skills and aptitudes
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Effective pharmaceutical skills
- Ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to communicate with patients and staff of all levels
- Ability to carry out day‑to‑day responsibilities and deal effectively with unpredictable/acute demands
- Ability to justify and reason any advice given should this be challenged
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise self, others and workload
- Tutoring and teaching ability
- Evidence of clinical audit/practice research
- BOPA Passport – completion of any adult level 2 solid tumour or haematology modules
