Mechanical Maintenance Technician | Crown Holdings | Peterborough | £51,486

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join Crown Holdings at its award‑winning manufacturing operation in Peterborough.

This role offers the chance to work within a modern, fast‑paced production environment, maintaining and optimising advanced back‑end manufacturing equipment while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency and performance of production machinery. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities, minimise downtime, and support ongoing operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and optimising back‑end production machinery.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults efficiently.
  • Carrying out planned preventive maintenance activities.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards.
  • Working collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise plant performance.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve machinery efficiency and reduce downtime.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, hands‑on engineer with strong mechanical fault‑finding skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Mechanical Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous experience working with production machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills.
  • A proactive approach to maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
